Concerned that he would lose his mentor when he "graduated" from first grade, Ryan announced that he would be staying in first grade. He was relieved to learn that Miss Marcia, his KHUSA mentor, would be promoted to second grade with him.
Research has proven that every child can benefit from a one-to-one relationship to improve upon their needs to succeed in life. That's what Kids Hope is all about. It only takes one hour a week filled with tutoring, reading stories, playing games, relationship building and lots of laughter to make a difference in the life of a child. We believe that every child is unique and has great value to this world. Mentors give that one hour to their one child each week to demonstrate their belief in them.
Currently Faith Church Dyer is mentoring 24 children at Bibich Elementary School. We are hoping to grow in Cedar Lake and Valparaiso. Our hope for the children of these communities is that we might be able to bring the same quality of mentoring that has brought synergy and a sense of community to Bibich.
